by the sea

While we were taking care of pregnant sheep and frozen chicken poop (it's impossible to clean out a coop in the winter) and shorted-out water heater plugs (thanks to being buried in snow and ice for weeks on end), the older two boys were at the beach.

At a 4-H teen conference. At a hotel that bills itself as a "resort and spa."

Yes, life is tough.

They even got in some beach time. In addition to walks on the beach each morning (granted, they were picking up trash), they also found time for a quick dip in the ocean. The plunge was to benefit a local soup kitchen.

The air temperature was in the low 30s, not taking wind chill into account. The water temperature was a tiny bit higher in the mid-30s. Rumor has it that they came out even faster and more enthusiastically than they went in.
